STEM
EXCITE is the facilitator for a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) enhancement program in Grand Falls-Windsor.
The program seeks to advance local STEM education with fun, engaging activities for K-12 students, ranging from volunteer opportunities at the Genomics Based R&D Centre for Health to Hackathons and in-class sessions.
EXCITE is thrilled to announce the delivery of STEM programming partnership with the K-12 students in Grand Falls-Windsor. Through our partners Tech NL, Brilliant Labs, FIRST LEGO League and the Information and Communications Technology Council (ICTC) programs will inform and teach interested students how health and technology can work together to build a better world for future generations.
This new program, starting in September 2023, will be eventually offered to K-12 students and will focus on three areas: cyber security, health, and robotics. It will develop creativity and innovation while building problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
The program has been developed in partnership with Brilliant Labs, FIRST Robotics NL, CyberTitan (Information and Communications Technology Council), and techNL. Local K-12 schools in Grand Falls-Windsor will help facilitate the program by connecting the Town with potential participants.
“We are very proud to be able to offer this programming to young people in our community,” said Grand Falls-Windsor Mayor Barry Manuel. “This program not only helps students explore their interest in STEM but also develops critical team-building skills and fosters creativity and ingenuity. We really appreciate the support from Exploits Valley High and Exploits Valley Intermediate who were instrumental in guiding us to set up this program. “
