Because of the activities focused on hearing loss research, the Centre attract the attention of NL Balance and Dizziness (NLBDC) in St. Johns, NL. NLBDC set up a clinic in Grand Falls-Windsor providing physiotherapy services focused on balance issues. Clients now can come to Grand Falls-Windsor providing much needed services for patients in rural NL. This has provided access to specialized health services to people closer to where they live.
Eastern Health’s first Clinical Research Satellite Site launched in June 2022 is the result of a partnership with the EXCITE Corporation, in cooperation with Central Health. Eastern Health was selected as one of three Canadian Remote Access Framework for Clinical Trials (CRAFT) proof-of-concept sites in Canada to receive project support and funding from the Canadian Cancer Clinical Trials Network (3CTN). The site in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL is among the first of its kind in the country and is part of CRAFT, which aims to broaden access to innovative treatment options made available through trials for eligible cancer patients, regardless of where they live in Canada.
